Shameless thief who stole life-saving equipment from a fire engine is jailed

A shameless thief who was captured on camera stealing life-saving equipment from a FIRE ENGINE has been jailed.

Lowlife Matthew Pinfield, 26, and an accomplice targeted the emergency vehicle which was parked up at a primary school as fire crews gave an educational talk to pupils.

Police released images of two suspects following the theft with took place outside All Saints CofE Community Primary School in Leek Wootton, Warks., on October 2.

Following the appeal Pinfield, of Longford, Coventry, was arrested and jailed for six months after he pleaded guilty to theft at Warwick Crown Court earlier this month.

PC Will Fuller, of Warwickshire Police, said after the case: “The equipment stolen is used to save people’s lives.

“The offenders showed complete contempt for our emergency service colleagues and the important role they play in saving lives.

“I would like to thank West Midlands Police who arrested Pinfield on our behalf and help secure the conviction.”

At the time of the theft, PC Ross Kirby, from the Warwick Rural West Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This was a disgraceful theft of equipment that may be required to save lives.”

The force said officers are still trying to trace a second man believed to have been involved in the theft.

The stolen equipment is still yet to be found and anyone with information on either the second suspect or the whereabouts of the stolen items can call the force on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
