Watch: Ukrainian journalist tells Johnson he is ‘afraid’ to protect children from Putin
“At least this could shield western Ukraine so that these children, with women, could come to the border. It’s impossible now to cross the border."
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson is a British politician and writer serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since July 2019. He was Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs 2016-2018 and Mayor of London 2008-2016. Johnson has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015 and was previously MP for Henley from 2001 to 2008. He has been described as adhering to the ideology of one-nation and national conservatism.
“At least this could shield western Ukraine so that these children, with women, could come to the border. It’s impossible now to cross the border."
A Tory councillor claimed Johnson is on the "frontline" of the Ukraine conflict. Twitter was unimpressed.
"On these numbers, the Conservatives face electoral wipeout," a pollster has said.
Kevin Foster suggested Ukrainians fleeing Russia's troops could apply for Britain's seasonal worker scheme to reach the country.
Maria Zakharova said ‘similar adjectives’ to those used about the Russian leader could be directed at Britain’s PM.
“We have to recognise that the old concepts of fighting big tank battles on European land mass are over and there are other better things we should be investing in," the prime minister said in November 2021, when there were warning signs about Russian troops at Ukraine's border.
"In a week when we have never needed honesty in UK politics more Boris Johnson repeated the same lie in Parliament for the SEVENTH time."
Chris Bryant told MPs the Russian oligarch should "no longer be able to own a football club in this country".
The Tory secretary also claimed the British Army “kicked the backside of Tsar Nicholas I in 1853 in Crimea” and claimed “we can always do it again”.
